It has now been announced that this regulation is likely to be finalised in early 2016 and will have a profound effect on all organisations that operate within the EU. It will replace existing data protection legislation across EU member states, with a single set of rules that will replace many local fines, including the ones currently imposed by the ‘Information Commissioners Office’ (ICO) in the UK.
