The Nettitude Group (www.nettitude.co.uk) was well represented at this year’s DerbyCon conference in Kentucky, USA – after two members of its Information Security Team were runners-up at the Penetration Testing event. The talented duo challenged over 1200 of the industry’s leading ethical hacking experts from around the World.
Showing off their World-class hacking pedigree were two of Nettitude’s testing experts Sean Gambles and Chris Oakley. The daring pair were pitched against some of the best teams in the world, in a contest to try and hack their way through various systems in a capture-the-flag competition.
Sean works primarily as an Infrastructure Tester, and Chris a Web Application Tester, which gave them a good mixed skill-set to take on the challenge. They were up against over 70 teams, and neither expected to come anywhere near to winning a prize, but they soon found themselves climbing the scoreboard. After many hours of battling, they ended up finishing in second place, a mere few points away from the winners, and landed themselves with £500 worth of prizes!
Spread over three days, the Derbycon event showcased talks from almost every top name in the industry, along with various training courses, lock picking workshops and vendor stalls.
